Fees

There is a monthly membership fee payable to the club, and an additional per-class fee that is paid to the Recreation Center:
  • Per-class "mat fee:" $2.50 (payable to Rec Center at the front desk)
  • Club membership fee (payable to Northglenn Judo Club):
    • 1 Person $18.00 each month
    • 2 People $16.00 each month per person
    • 3 People $14.00 each month per person
    • 4 or more $12.00 each month per person
    • Annual memberships are also available at a reduced price.

Mission statement

We will teach you and/or your children the fundamentals of Judo. All ages from 5 years and up are welcome--our oldest practicing members are in their 70s! The Northglenn Judo Club (NGJC) will continue its ongoing judo program, to provide the following for its members and supporters:
  • Competent instruction in the techniques and the philosophy of the sport of judo.
  • A safe environment in which to regularly practice judo.
  • Encouragement and opportunity for all members to mature to their maximum potential as judo players and/or coaches.
    In doing so, development of quality competitors, able to compete effectively at local, national, and international levels.
  • Opportunity to participate in recreational judo.
  • Affiliation with the national governing body for judo (USA Judo) and active participation in the affairs of the greater judo community at local, state, national, and international levels.
  • Opportunity for promotion through nationally sanctioned promotion organizations.
  • Opportunity for members, family and friends of NGJC to participate in the club's social and fund raising activities.

History

Northglenn Judo Club has been in existence since 1965 and is the longest continually operating Judo Club in Colorado. We have a mat area of 40 x 80 feet and welcome students of all levels, from 1st-time beginners through Olympic-caliber athletes.
  • As of January 1, 2003, Northglenn had 96 registered members of USA Judo, making it the 5th largest Judo Club in the nation in terms of registered members.
  • Member of United States Judo Inc., Colorado Judo League, United States Judo Federation, Intermountain Yudanshakai.
  • In addition to Judo teaching and practice, the club actively participates in local, state, national and international competitions. We also sponsor social events for the whole family and participate in fundraising to benefit our judo players.
  • Northglenn is also the home club of two Olympians:
    • Craig Agena, 1984 Los Angeles Olympics
    • Jo Anne Quiring, 1992 Barcelona Olympics
  • Northglenn is the home club of Lance Nading, former #1 ranked athlete in 100 kg division and USA Judo Vice President
  • We have many junior elite athletes practicing at our club. See the junior elite athletes page for more information.
  • The Northglenn judo club junior coaching staff was selected as USA Judo's developmental coach of the year 2002.
  • Northglenn has a very active and successful Masters team.
  • Northglenn won the team championship at the 2003 USA Judo National Junior Olympics.
  • Northglenn has a number of groups for specific ages and skill levels, including:
    • Juniors: beginning, intermediate, and advanced
    • Seniors: beginning, intermediate, and advanced
    • Masters (over 30)
    • Adult novices
    • Joshi (women's) judo
