• 2010 USA Judo Senior National Championships

    May 1-2, 2010: Kenny Hashimoto finally won his first Senior National Championships in great form Sunday in Myrtle Beach, SC. by defeating Leonardo Victoria of Weehawken, N.J. in the finals of the 66Kg. (145.5 lbs.) Division. Kenny's brother Joseph (Seiji) did almost as well earning a Bronze medal in the 73Kg. division. Kenny's victory has qualified him to compete in the World Championships which will be held in Tokyo, Japan later this year (September 9-13). Congratulations to both Kenny and Seiji on well fought matches throughout the day.

  • 42nd Annual Northglenn Judo Championships

    April 17, 2010: The 42nd Annual Northglenn Judo Championships were held on April 17 in a new venue at Legacy High School where 215 athletes from 13 states and 4 countries competed in the event. There were a total of 35 clubs competing and Northglenn Judo Club once again took top honors with 79 points over the Olympic Training Squad with 66, and USA Stars from Moore, Oklahoma coming in 3rd with 56 points. Northglenn's Robert Tanaka won the Outstanding Junior Male Competitor Award with Shannan Corning equaling his performance by winning the Outstanding Junior Female Competitor Award. In addition to winning his Junior Juvenile A&B Division at 128 Lbs., Ian Cheatum went on to earn the Guy Towle Award and Northglenn Judo Club President's Award presented by Dr. Dennis McGuire. Hiroto Hayashi was awarded the Vice-President's Award (Page Baptist) and Charlie Matheson earned the Head Coach's Award (Warren Agena). The award from the Combined Northglenn Coaches this year went to Shannan Corning. Congratulations to all of our club competitors on a job well done. A BIG "THANK YOU" also goes out to the many, many volunteers who helped make this year's tournament such a success. THANK YOU!

  • 2010 Liberty Bell Classic

    April 11, 2010: Kenny and Seiji Hashimoto competed along with nearly 600 athletes at the 2010 Liberty Bell Classic at the Asplundh Field House Academy of New Church in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania. The tournament was a USA Judo Senior E-Level Point Tournament and both Kenny and Seiji competed in the 73-KG division with Kenny eventually winning a Bronze medal. This was Kenny's first major tournament in a while and it was a good preparatory tournament for our upcoming 42nd Annual Northglenn Judo Championships and the Senior Nationals. Congratulations Kenny.
  • 2010 USA Judo Youth and Scholastic National Championships

    March 13-14, 2010: Ian Cheatum was one of nearly 400 athletes competing at the USA Judo Youth and Scholastic National Championships in Spokane, Washington and he won a Silver medal in the Male Juvenile A - 58 KG (127.6 LB) Division. Congratulations to Ian and to sensei Page Baptist, who did a fantastic job coaching Ian throughout the tournament.

  • 62nd Annual San Jose Buddhist Judo Club and 18th “Sensei Memorial” Invitational Judo Tournament

    February 14, 2010: Ian Cheatum and Justen Otaka successfully represented Northglenn Judo Club in the 62nd Annual San Jose Buddhist Judo Club and 18th “Sensei Memorial” Invitational Judo Tournament which was held in the Event Center at San Jose State University in San Jose, California. Ian dominated his division by winning all of his matches by Ippon and Justen Otaka fought hard to earn a bronze medal in the 90 KG division for blackbelts. Ian, Justen, and Alejandro were coached by sensei Warren Agena. Congratulations to all.

  • 2009 Brian Olson Winter Classic Judo Tournament

    December 05, 2009: A good contingent of competitors from our club competed in the 2009 Brian Olson Winter Classic Judo Tournament.The tournament was held on December 5th at Manhattan Middle School in Boulder, CO and over 125 competitors participated in the event. One of the many highlights of the day occured when our own Bobby Yamashita competed in the Men's Openweight category and defeated Jacob Larson in the final. Jacob Larson is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in the 90 Kg. division. All of the competitors from our club fought hard and well. We are proud of all of you. Congratulations on a job well done.

  • 9th Annual Denver Classic Judo Championships

    October 24, 2009: Members from Northglenn Judo Club were among the 196 athletes competing in the 9th Annual Denver Classic Judo Championships, held on Saturday, October 24 in Parker, CO. Our own Alejandro Masias also won a prize of $150 for winning the 81 Kg. division in the senior men's category. Congratulations to all on fighting well.

  • 14th Annual Albert Tagawa Memorial Shiai Judo Tournament

    October 10, 2009: Members from Northglenn Judo Club successfully competed in the 14th Annual Albert Tagawa Memorial Shiai, held on Saturday, 10 October at the Denver Buddhist Temple. This was the first tournament for many of our members and all fought very well. Thanks to everyone's contributions, Northglenn Judo Club also won the team competition by a wide margin. Congratulations to all.

  • 2009 Golden State Judo Open

    August 22, 2009: Brothers Kenny and Seiji Hashimoto from Northglenn Judo Club competed in the Golden State Open, a USA Judo Senior E-Level Point Tournament. The tournament was held in Pomona, California and both Kenny and Seiji returned with medals. This was Kenny's first tournament back after his neck surgery last year. Congratulations on a job well done boys!

  • 2009 USA Judo Junior US Open

    August 2, 2009: Sofia Mani from our club compted in the Junior U.S. Open which was held at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. More than 600 competitors competed in the two-day international event. Sofia competed in two divisions and won a medal in both. Congratulations Sofia !!!

    July 24-25, 2009: The USA Judo National Junior Olympics for US citizens only was held on July 24-25, 2009, and the International Division of the Junior Olympics was held on July 26, 2009, both at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Congratulations to Morgan McGuire-Beauman, Ian Cheatum, and Shelby Davis, the three athletes from Northglenn Judo Club who competed. All three athletes from Northglenn Judo Club came away with at least one medal.

  • 2009 United States Judo Federation Junior National Championships

    July 11-12, 2009: The following are the results for the Northglenn Judo Club athletes who competed at the 2009 US Judo Federation Junior Nationals Judo Championship held at City College of San Francisco. There were 569 contestants during the two day competition. Overall, Colorado placed 3rd among all states, behind California and Hawaii. Congratulations. All of the club members fought extremely well.

  • 2009 Colorado Judo League State Championships

    June 6, 2009: The following are the results for members of Northglenn Judo Club who competed in the 2009 Colo. Judo League State Championship held at the Northglenn Recreation Center. Nearly 150 athletes competed in the event. In addition to athlete from all over Colorado, the event included a 15-person team from Tahiti, and athletes from Alaska, Mississippi, and Nebraska. Northglenn Judo Club also finished 2nd in the team points with 67 points to Denver Judo's 84 points, followed by Hyland Hills Judo CLub in 3rd with 60 points. Congratulations to all who competed.

  • 41st Annual Northglenn Judo Championships

    April 11, 2009 : Northglenn Judo Club hosted 219 participants from California, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, Michigan, and Idaho, as well as international athletes from Sweden and Tahiti (French Polynesia) in our 41st Annual Judo Championships . Overall, we had 9 first place winners, 15 second place winners, and four third place winners and placed 1st among the more than 30 teams participating in the tournament. Three of our club members, Joseph Seiji Hashimoto, Justen Otaka and Mike Kannianen earned valuable national ranking points in the Senior Elite weight categories. Special awards were given to Shannan Corning for the Outstanding Female Junior Competitor, and Alejandro Masias won the Guy Towle Memorial Award. Congratulations to all who participated and many, many thanks go out to all who made this tournament such a success.

    March 28, 2009 The following 4 members of Northglenn Judo Club participated in the 1st Annual Colorado Springs Classic which was held in Colorado Springs on March 28th. Congratulations on fighting hard and doing so well.

  • 2009 Southwest Judo Championships

    March 21, 2009 : 13 members of Northglenn Judo Club competed in the Southwest Judo Championships which were held in Rio Rancho New Mexico, a suburb of Albuquerque. Over 107 athletes participated in the event and all 13 of our competitors placed. We had 7 first place winners, 5 second place winners, and one third place winner. In addition, Northglenn Judo Club placed 3rd among the teams participating in the tournament.

  • 2009 NCJA Collegiate National Judo Championships

    March 15, 2009 : Northglenn Judo Club's own Joseph Seiji Hashimoto competed in the 2009 National Collegiate Judo Association's Collegiate National Championships, hosted by San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. Seji competed in and won the 73 Kg division. Congratulations Seiji!!!

  • 2009 Hyland Hills Throwdown Tournament

    February 28, 2009 : 14 members of Northglenn Judo Club competed in the Hyland Hills Throwdown Tournament which was held at the Woodrow Wilson Academy in Westminster, CO. Over 140 athletes from Colorado, New Mexico, California, Wyoming, Missouri, Montana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Sweden participated in the event. Of the 14 club members who competed, 13 placed either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Once again, congratulations to all those who participated. In addition to winning his own division, our exchange student from Peru, Humberto Alonso Wong Albujar also won the Outstandig Male Competitor Award. Northglenn Judo Club placed second in the team scoring with 47 points. Hyland Hills Judo placed 1st with 79 points and the combined team of the Olympic Training Center and Ju-Shin Kan placed 3rd with 31 points.

    February 15, 2009 : Northglenn Judo Club's own Justen Otaka competed in the 2009 San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial Tournament which was held in San Jose, CA. Justen was one of 136 athletes competing for national level points in the elite divisons and he placed 3rd in the 90 Kg (198 Lbs.) division. Congratulations Justen!!!

    July 26, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club's Shannan Corning competed in this year's State Games of the West which was held in Colorado Springs. Shannan won a Silver medal in the Junior Female 9 & 10 Year Olds, 67-75 Lbs. Division. Congratulations Shannan!

  • 2008 USA Judo Junior Olympics

    July 25-27, 2008 : Nine Northglenn Judo Club members competed in this year's USA Judo Junior Olympics which was held at Walt Disney World® in Kissimmee, Florida. The three day event hosted over 800 competitors and included an international division competition on the final day. Northglenn Judo Club earned 9 medals during the event. Congratulations to all.

  • 2008 USA Judo Jr. Open

    July 19-20, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had 4 members compete in the 2008 USA Judo Jr. Open Championships. The tournament was held at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and had over 300 competitors from 16 countries. Our club was well represented and we came away with one Silver medal, and two Bronze. Seiji lost a closely fought, exciting match against Sergiy Pliyev of the Ukraine in the semi-finals of his division. Congratulations to all our competitors for fighting hard and fair.

  • 2008 USJF Junior National Championships

    July 4-6, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had only one member compete in the 2008 USJF Junior National Championships. The tournament was held at The Forum of the University of Illinois at Chicago. Congratulations to Sofia Mani for placing 2nd in the Female Juvenile B, 57 Kg. division.

  • 2008 Front Range Judo Championships

    May 31, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had 17members compete in the 2008 Front Range Judo Championships held at the El Pomar Sports Complex at the Colorado College, in Colorado Springs. Our club was well represented and we won a voucher for a new judogi for being the club with the most competitors. We came away with 6-Gold medals, 3-Silver medals, and one Bronze. Everyone fought hard and fair and we are proud of your efforts. Congratulations!!!

  • 2008 Boulder Mountain Tournament

    May 17, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club members competed in the 2008 Boulder Mountain Tournament and did quite well. The team won 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals. Congratulations to the whole team. We are proud of all of you for a job well done.

  • 40th Annual Northglenn Judo Championships

    April 26, 2008 : Our 40th Annual Northglenn Judo Championship was held at the Northglenn High School. Over 220 athletes from Colorado, California, Illinois, Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, Arizona, Missouri, North Dakota, Minnesota, Arkansas, and New Mexico competed in the event and once again, thanks to the efforts of many devoted volunteers and parents, the tournament was a smashing success. As a team, Northglenn Judo Club won with 116 points. The Northern California Elite judo team came in 2nd with 69 points, and the USA Stars team from Oklahoma came in a distant 3rd with 47 points. This year's Guy Towle award was given to Lucas Mignogna for his stellar performance during the past year. Lucas also won the outstanding senior male competitor award in addition to winning both his division (Sr. Male 81 Kg) and the Open division. Congratulations Lucas and all the other competitors from our club.

  • 2008 USA Judo Senior National Championships

    Apr 11-12, 2008 : Senseis Jean-Luc Moreau, Doug Payne and Warren Agena took a 10-person team from Northglenn to Virgina Beach, VA to compete in the 2008 Senior National Championships. The team won 5 medals and just missed two more with Lucas Mignogna and Seiji Hashimoto losing their Bronze medal matches. Congratulations to the whole team on a job well done. Everyone fought extremely well!

  • 2008 Youth and Scholastic Championships

    Mar 29, 2008 : Seiji Hashimoto and Lucas Mignogna both competed in the 2008 Youth and Scholastic Championships held in Menomonie, Wisconsin and both earned a Silver medal. Congratulations Seiji and Lucas.

  • 2008 Colorado Judo League State Championships

    February 24, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had more than 30 members competing in the 2008 CJL State Championships. The tournament, was held at our own Northglenn Recreation Center in Northglenn, CO and had more than 160 competitors from Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Florida. Northglenn Judo Club ended the day with 27 medals (10-Gold, 14-Silver, and 3-Bronze). As a team, Northglenn Judo Club was awarded 1st place with a total of 100 points to 78 points from the Hyland Hills team, and 54 points from the team from Ju Shin Kan. Congratulations to all of you on a job well done!

  • San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial Tournament

    Feb 10, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had 3 members competing in the 2008 San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial Tournament which was held in San Jose, CA. Corbin Mallo finished the highest with a Silver medal. Congratulations to all three on a job well done.

  • 2008 OTC Winter Classic

    Jan 12, 2008 : Northglenn Judo Club had more than 20 members competing in the 2008 OTC Winter Classic, the first tournament of the New Year. The tournament, was held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO and had more than 150 competitors. Northglenn Judo Club won more than 17 medals (7-Gold, 5-Silver, and 5-Bronze). As a team, Northglenn Judo Club was awarded 1st place with a total of 55 points to 28 points from the United States Air Force team, and 27 points from the Boulder Judo Training Center. Congratulations to all of you on getting the New Year started off on a good note!

  • Brian Olson Winter Classic

    Dec 1, 2007 : Northglenn Judo Club had 20 members competing in the 2007 Brian Olson Winter Classic. The tournament, which was held at the Louisville Middle School, in Louisville, CO had a total of 104 competitors with members from Northglenn Judo Club winning a total of 20 medals (9-Gold, 4-Silver, and 7-Bronze). As a team, Northglenn Judo Club won 1st place with a total of 71 points to 68 points from the United States Air Force team, and 51 points from the Boulder Judo Training Center. Congratulations to all of you on a job well done!

  • Dallas Invitational

    Nov. 24, 2007 : Four members of Northglenn Judo Club competed in the 2007 Dallas Invitational held in Grapevine, Texas, winning 4 medals (1-Gold, 1-Silver, and 2-Bronze).

  • 7th Annual Denver Classic

    Nov. 17, 2007 : Northglenn Judo Club had 11 members compete in the 7th Annual Denver Classic held at the Buck Community Center Recreation Center in Littleton, Colorado, winning a total of 10 medals (4-Gold, 5-Silver, & 1-Bronze) With only 11 members competing, Northglenn also placed 3rd in the team totals behind Denver Judo and Hyland Hills Judo Club.

  • Continental Crown

    Nov. 10, 2007: Alejandro Masias won a bronze medal competing at 81 Kg in the Continental Crown tournament (A senior E-Level points tournament), held at the Highline Community College in Des Moines, Washington. Congratulations Alejandro!

  • Flanders Cup

    Oct. 27, 2007: Seiji Hashimoto won a Silver medal competing at 66 Kg in the Under 20 Year-Old division at the Flanders Cup which was held in Lommel, Belgium. Seiji was coached by 1987 World Champion Mike Swain.

  • Rendez-Vous

    Oct. 27, 2007: Kenny Hashimoto, coached by Sensei Jean-Luc Moreau won a Gold medal in the Rendez-Vous tournament held in Montreal Canada, beating one of his arch rivals, Taylor Takata in the final by Ippon.
  • Fall Classic

    Sept. 1, 2007: Keith Beauvais and Kenny Hashimoto both won medals at the Fall Classic Tournament held in Coral Springs, Florida with Keith bringing home a Bronze medal in the 55 Kg division and Kenny Hashmoto a Gold medal in the 66 Kg division.

  • Golden State Open

    Seiji Hashimoto participated in the Golden State Open which was held August 26 at the Fairplex Fairgrounds in Pomona, California. This was a senior E-Level points tournament. Seiji competed in the men's 66Kg divistion which had 16 competitors, some of them elite athletes. Seiji went 4-0 on his way to winning the gold medal. Congratulations Seiji!

  • State Games of America

    4 Northglenn athletes competed in the State Games of America held August 5 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, winning a total of 5 medals.

  • Junior U.S. Open

    Northglenn Judo Club's Keith Beauvais competed in the Junior U.S. Open held July 28-29 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Congratulations Keith for bringing home the Silver medal in the Boys Juvenile B, 55 kg category.

  • USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships

    10 Northglenn athletes competed in the recent USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships held July 21-22 in San Antonio, Texas, bringing home six medals.
